소동물의 신장학 도서가 새로이 발간되었읍니다.
본 서는 현재 발간된 신장학관련도서중 가장 최신이며 가장 방대한 내용을 수록하고 있읍니다.
또한 그러면서도 저자들의 경험에 따흔 노하우를 아낌없이 공개하고 있어 실제임상에 많은 도움이 되리라 생각합니다.

비록 제목은 이어받지 않았지만 몇몇 챕터에서 Carl. A. Osborne이 챕터저자로 참여하였기에
Carl A. Osborne가 저술했던 1995년판의 Canine and Feline Nephrology and Urology의 개저판이라고도 볼 수도 있겠읍니다.

일반적인 많은 수의학도서와 마찬가지로 우선 해부학과 생리학을 다시 한번 간단히 다루고 있으며 이후 검사법에 대한 섹션이 있으며 이는 치료기법에 대한 섹션으로 진행이 됩니다.
네번째 섹션에서는 임상적인 증후군들을 다루고 있읍니다.
다섯번째 섹션에서는 상부비뇨기계의 이상을, 여섯번째 섹션에서는 체액, 전해질, 산염기 불균형에 대해서 수록하였읍니다.
이후에는 전신적인 동맥성 고혈압, 상/하부 비뇨기계의 질환, 하부비뇨기계 질환을 다루고 있으며 말미에서는 애완조류와 특수동물에 대하여도 간단하게나마 다루고 있읍니다.

가장 마지막 챕터에서는 보호자 카운셀링에 대하여 저자의 경험을 토대로 많은 조언을 하고 있읍니다.

부록으로는 하부비뇨생식기계의 생리학을 수록하였읍니다.

치료기법에서는 혈액투석, 복막투석 등 뿐 아니라 신장이식, 체외충격파 치료 등 다양하고 새로운 가능성이 있는 치료법들이 저자의 경험담과 함께 수록되어 있읍니다.

동물병원의 규모, 인원, 장비와 관계없이 노령동물의 증가와 반려동물의 평균수명 연장으로 인한 신장질환의 내원환축수는 계속 증가할 것입니다.
신장질환의 참고서적으로는 이만한 도서가 당분간 없을 것 같습니다.
